Who do you turn to when you’re near the top of your market… and you’re ready to jump to a whole new level?

That’s a question I ask myself all the time. So do a lot of savvy entrepreneurs, I hope.

It’s the question that ran through my mind when I received an early-morning email on January 2nd, from a marketer who’s name I recognized… even though we’d never actually met.

Fortunately, our paths had crossed with the help of a serial-entrepreneur we’d both worked with, so the conversation had already started off well.

Mari Smith has been recognized as a social media expert, speaker and trainer since immersing herself in the world of Twitter, Facebook and online relationship marketing in 2007. In 2008, FastCompany.com dubbed her “the Pied Piper of the Online World.”

Since then, top business publications such as Forbes, Dun & Bradstreet, Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Fortune have honored Mari in their top picks of the most influential social media leaders, featuring her as the world-renowned social media expert and thought leader she has become.

When she contacted me on the recommendation of her business mentor, Mari had just made the announcement to her Facebook fanbase of her latest plans for exploding her business to a whole new level in the coming year.

Little did she realize how quickly those plans would fall into place.

But wait… I don’t want to spoil the ending for you!

First thing on the agenda was to schedule a phone chat with Mari, to find out exactly what “a whole new level” meant to her business. And to see how I could help make it happen.

But as our conversation unfolded, she knew it was time to tweak and re-create that image in her marketing materials, to match the direction her new business goals dictated.

And she was ready to let me run with the whole nine yards to accomplish that change of direction!

Don’t worry, it’s not like we were going to change everything overnight. Not without Mari keeping a close eye on things and approving every step of the way. That would be a foolish approach for anyone.

As it turned out, the inner-circle team consisting of Mari, her business mentor and myself worked very closely on every major component of this launch… along with the new brand-and-image positioning that went along with it. And Mari remained hands-on involved with every single messaging item and detail we created, too.

Plus, I had a virtual “direct line” to core members of Mari’s team, as I quickly began to immerse myself in her world, her voice and her audience before embarking on a fast track to the first big Facebook launch of the year.

So, how did it all turn out?

Short answer, Mari received more than 15,000 registrations for this pre-sell webinar… the biggest potential audience of her entire webinar-speaking career so far.

And from the numbers I’ve seen, the new email format I introduced for her affiliate messaging had a lot to do with attracting that MASSIVE audience!

When the actual presentation went live a couple of weeks later, approximately 6,000 people actually turned up for the event. Ask anyone in the industry how impressive those attendance numbers are on their own!
